Identity Crisis, Racism and Tolerance: Life as a Palestinian-Bulgarian – Mixed Marriage Kid 🇵🇸/🇧🇬

“Where are you from?” has always been a difficult question for me to answer as a kid from a mixed Palestinian-Bulgarian marriage. Here I open up about the challenges I faced as I never felt fully accepted in neither a Bulgarian or Arab community, and how I often encounter racism and stereotypes about my background.

Being mixed has its challenges, but in recent years I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of it, understanding different cultures, religions, languages and perspectives. I’ve realized that being mixed is one of the main reasons why I get along so well with different people, regardless of how different they are to me, where they come from and which religion they follow.

Being mixed is a true blessing that makes a more well-rounded and tolerant human being.
